Lychee Tea Syrup
Posted by PETER - TEAS.COM.AU
This black tea syrup is easy to make and it’s a little like caramel sauce but with the goodness of tea. Give it a try!
Makes about 60ml
- 3 tbsp Lychee Red tea
- 160ml water
- 40ml honey (about 4 tbsp)
Tea used in this recipe: Lychee Red Tea
- In a small saucepan, add water, heat till little bubbles start to show, turn heat down to low and add tea leaves. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Stir in honey, increase heat to high and boil for 10 minutes or until the syrup is thick enough to coat your spoon without dripping.
- Ready to use on icecream (we recommend the lemongrass lemon ice cream from our recipe section).
Lychee Red (Black Tea) may sound a little confusing with the two colour in the tea name. In Chinese tea categorisation, Black Tea is known as Red Tea.
Chinese "black tea" category refers to Pu-erh, a completely different kind of tea in terms of flavour and smell to standard black tea.
